Nu-Life Blinds is a trading name of Nu-Life Furnishings Ltd and has been based in Wickham Market for nearly 40 years. We are a family-run business, now in our 6th generation and managed by Jason Collins.
Jason’s father, Peter Collins, started in the family’s upholstery business in London, under the tuition of his father in his factory shop in Archway Highgate, before later moving to Harlesdon and Wembley. Peter became involved in the film industry and supplied drapes and soft furnishings to the Elstree, Sheperton and Wembley Studios, where he built up an impressive portfolio of films over a 20-year period. These included Star Wars, Buster, Dracula, Yentle (Barbara Streisand), Empire of the Sun, Return to Oz, Young Sherlock Holmes and Flash Gordon, to name a few. As well as supplying products to the film industry, Peter was also involved with the production of several commercials and worked with the BBC on many programmes including two Eurovision Song Contests.
Peter moved to Suffolk in 1989 and started Nu-Life Upholstery. Jason Collins joined the company in 1996 and worked alongside his father from their workshop in Wickham Market. The company name was changed to Nu-Life Furnishings in 2011 to encompass the growing range of products and services offered.
Peter sadly passed away in 2014 leaving Jason to continue the family business. The company has continued to grow and became a Ltd company in 2016 and later Nu-Life Blinds in 2020.
During our 40 years in Wickham Market, we have become a leading supplier of blinds, shutters, awnings, soft furnishings and upholstery, covering the East of the region. The vast majority of our work is generated through repeat business and referrals – something we are extremely proud of.
